Art submissions to design Lighthouse sculptures are live for Light the South
Light the South, the large-scale public art trail in collaboration with Wild in Art, has entered a new and exciting phase, officially inviting artists to submit striking designs for our lighthouse sculptures to be displayed across Southampton and Cowes in summer 2024.
Light the South, which launched in September and is supported by presenting partner Red Funnel, has made the call out for established and emerging artists to design our 8ft lighthouse sculptures.
Whatever your level of experience, we want to hear from you and most importantly see your ideas. We’re looking for a wide variety of designs and artistic styles from fine art and illustration to graffiti!
Each sculpture will be sponsored by a local business or community group who will choose the artwork they like the most from the submitted designs.
If chosen, artists will be paid £1,000 and their art will be shown to thousands of people during the duration of the sculpture trail across Southampton and Cowes.
Dr Neda Mohamadi, Art Curator, Southampton Hospitals Charity says,
“We are inviting artists to join us on our journey to bring Light the South to Southampton and Cowes. The trail presents an incredible opportunity for both established and emerging artists to engage, create, and be a part of a unique trail. I encourage our exceptional art community to get involved and submit their designs as we deliver a trail that lights up the South.”
Artists should visit www.lightthesouth.co.uk/artists to complete the artists design submission form.
Designs must be submitted by the 30th November 2023 to be considered.
