Little Lights learner programme update

Date published: 8 January 2024

The Little Lights learner programme is now live for selected Southampton and Cowes schools.

Julie Mountain, Project Manager says “As we welcome in the new year, 40 schools have now been selected to take part in our Little Lights learner programme where they will be tasked with designing a lighthouse sculpture as part of our Light the South trail across Southampton and Cowes taking place across the summer.

There is a fantastic mix of primary, secondary, and special schools taking part, as well as the early years nursery based on the hospital site. For all our participating Little Light schools, make sure to check your inbox as the Little Lights learner programme resources and exclusive toolkit are now live.

Southampton Hospitals Charity will be in touch with the successful schools to deliver your sculpture in February, ready for the children to design and paint their mini lighthouses before the sculptures go out on the trail in July 2024.”

Calling all local businesses

The Little Lights sculptures will be displayed indoors across central Southampton and Cowes. If there are any shops, businesses, or organisations who would like to apply to host a Little Light, please email lightthesouth@uhs.nhs.uk

We are still looking for sponsors of our 8-foot lighthouses, working with local and national artists on the designs. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to get involved. This is a truly unique and creative event to promote your business, drive customers to your door and support one of Southampton and Cowes much-loved charities.
