All the children at Wellstead designed a lighthouse. Our art club then combined all the common features to produce this fantastic masterpiece. Our lighthouse is purple and blue – our school colours. The rings are our house colours and Wellstead’s learning values are floating in the clouds. The flowers, crops and grains are our class names, inspired by Hedge End’s heritage as a rural farming area dating back to the 13th Century. In the 19th Century, Hedge End became known as the ‘Strawberry Village’. This inspired our 17 strawberries which are dotted around the lighthouse. 16 of them represent how many years our school has been open for and a golden strawberry symbolises the Southampton Children’s Hospital. Can you spot them all?
