Our oceans are in grave danger: they have become a dumping ground for the problems we don’t want to deal with. As a maritime city, many of us rely on the water for transport and employment; so why do we not better protect it? Rising up from the depths, ‘Troubled Waters’ offers a glimpse of the threatened marine life hidden beneath the waves. Painted and sculpted by our aspiring artists: Imogen, Kags, Kassy & Lucy, an ambitious diorama of ceramic sea life and toxic bubbles is preserved below sea creatures avoiding ghostly plastic shapes that don’t belong. The reassuring structure of the Little Light is a hopeful metaphor for the power of human ingenuity and creativity, but the dark storm clouds remind us all of the need for urgent action.
